The Sigma Draconis system, also known as the 61 Draconis system, was an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant.
Components
Stellar system
This was a single star system. The primary star Alsafi (the proper name for Sigma Draconis) was a K-type dwarf.
Planetary system
There were nine planets in this system. Three of those planets, Sigma Draconis III, Sigma Draconis IV, and Sigma Draconis VI, were located in the system's habitable zone. Classified as M-class, they were populated by native species. The other planets in the system – Sigma Draconis I, Sigma Draconis II, Sigma Draconis V, Sigma Draconis VII, Sigma Draconis VIII, and Sigma Draconis IX – were not M-class.
History
The pre-warp era of the system's inhabitants was marked by constant conflict. (SA: "Vox In Excelso")
There were surveys and long-range scans of this system by the Federation. Information on the system was stored in the library computers of Federation starships. (TOS: "Spock's Brain")
In 2268, the USS Enterprise entered the system to search for Commander Spock's brain. (TOS: "Spock's Brain")
In 3189, the USS Cuyahoga reported Orion and Andorian vessels from the Emerald Chain in the Sigma Draconis system. (DIS: "Die Trying")
During a formal debate against Cadet Darem Reymi in 3195, Caleb Mir cited Sigma Draconis to rebut the claim that sentient existence should return to a pre-warp state. (SA: "Vox In Excelso")
When the Venari Ral laid Omega-47 mines around the core of Federation space in 3196, this system was within the enclosed region. (SA: "300th Night", "Rubincon")
Stellar cartography
The Sigma Draconis system was visible from Earth in the constellation Draco. This system was approximately 19 light years from Sol.
Location of Sigma Draconis on a United Earth star chart, 2154
In the 2150s, this system's position was labeled on an United Earth star chart which was displayed in several crew and guest quarters aboard the Enterprise. (Star Trek: Enterprise, set decoration)
In 2259, the location of this system was labeled on a stellar cartography chart that was seen on the USS Enterprise's ready room viewscreen. The system's symbol was blue, indicating it was affiliated with the United Federation of Planets. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds", "Spock Amok")
On stardate 1292.4, the location of this system was labeled on a star chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Team briefing. (Star Trek: Section 31)
The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. Sigma Draconis system was in or near to Federation space. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")
In 2401, the location of Sigma Draconis was labeled on a star chart that was seen on the USS Stargazer's bridge viewscreen. The chart was used to show the location of the combined Starfleet-Borg armada and where it needed to go to face a galactic-level threat. (PIC: "Farewell")
Later that year, this system's position was labeled on a star chart used by Captain William T. Riker during his attempt at finding the last known location of the SS Eleos XII. (PIC: "The Next Generation")
In 3196, during the Omega-47 crisis, the location of Sigma Draconis was depicted on star charts and readouts used across several locations on the USS Athena to locate, monitor, and respond to the Omega-47 mines laid by the Venari Ral. (SA: "300th Night", "Rubincon")

Appendices
Background information
Information on this system was derived from the episodes, from the reference works Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, and from real world sources. The reference works were used extensively in the creation of star charts seen in Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Prodigy, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
In the Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 18, 19, and 44) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), this system was located in Sector 004 (Sigma Draconis sector). This was a Federation system in the late 24th century.
The star chart seen in the series Star Trek: Enterprise made its first appearance in Crewman Daniels quarters in "Cold Front". It was also seen in several other episodes of the series, from 2151 to 2154. (For more information, see Federation star charts#United Earth Alpha/Beta star chart)
Apocrypha
In the Ninth UK Story Arc comics, the Enterprise returned to the Sigma Draconis system and discovered a planet composed entirely of liquid. It continued exploring the system in the Tenth UK Story Arc, discovering it to be a theater of warfare in the conflict between the Eldorian (β)s and the Norusian (β)s.
