The Ferenginar system was an inhabited planetary system located in Ferengi space in the Alpha Quadrant.

Components

Stellar system

This was a single star system with a lone primary.

Planetary system

In the habitable zone of this system, there was the planet Ferenginar, which was the homeworld of the Ferengi and the capital planet of the Ferengi Alliance.

Stellar cartography

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. Ferenginar was in or near to Ferengi space. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

In 3189, the location of Ferenginar was denoted on a holographic star chart of the galaxy at Federation Headquarters. This system was located in Ferengi Territory. (DIS: "Die Trying")

In 3195, this system's position was labeled on a Federation star chart which was displayed on the bridge of the USS Athena. Systems affiliated with the Ferengi Alliance, including this one, had red labels.(SA: "Come, Let's Away")

In 3196, during the Omega-47 crisis, the location of "Ferenginar (Ferengi Homeworld)" was depicted on star charts and readouts used across several locations on the USS Athena to locate, monitor, and respond to the Omega-47 mines laid by the Venari Ral. This location was marked in orange, indicating it was part of the Ferengi Trade Zone. It was outside of the area threatened by the mines. (SA: "300th Night", "Rubincon")

Appendices

Background information

The name of this system came from the source material used, the Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, to create the star charts seen in both Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard. According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 36) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the primary of the Ferenginar system was a M-type star.

Apocrypha

In non-canonical sources, the system was either called the Ventarus Idrilon system (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Narrator's Toolkit) or the Alpha Krellek system (Worlds).
