The War College was an educational institution responsible for training Starfleet officers after the Burn in the mid-31st century, which had led to Earth's secession from the Federation and the closure of Starfleet Academy. Compared to the Academy, the College's emphasis was more on defense than exploration. Their varsity sports teams were called the Mugatos. The chancellor of the College was Commander Zeeren Kelrec. In 3190, the War College began using the derelict USS Miyazaki as a site to train cadets for crisis response. (SA: "Come, Let's Away")

When Starfleet Academy was recommissioned in 3195, it and the War College both moved into the newly-renovated facilities at the original Academy campus in San Francisco and aboard the USS Athena. (SA: "Kids These Days")

One of the courses offered at the War College was Battlefield Resilience, which was taught by Kelrec. (SA: "Vitus Reflux")

Cadets from the War College started a prank war against the Academy, aided by Kelrec. Ake responded by urging her cadets to practice strategic subtlety, which they eventually realized in the form of their own prank against the College using Vitus reflux. Shortly afterward, the campus was inspected by the oversight committee. (SA: "Vitus Reflux")

One of the topics debated by Academy cadets in preparation for the Aaron Satie Debate Competition was whether the War College should move its campus to Luna. (SA: "Vox In Excelso")

The two institutions worked together for a training mission to the Miyazaki, only to be attacked by the Furies and the Venari Ral. This led to the Starfleet Academy and War College cadets coming together as a team to survive. However, War College cadet B'Avi was killed while Tarima Sadal and SAM were severely injured.
