New Kentanna was the inhabited M-class second planet in the Draylon system. This planet was in the Bajoran sector, Alpha Quadrant. The planet was near Sefalla Prime.

Draylon II had a stable orbit, temperate climate, and very low surface radiation. In addition, this world had good soil for farming, a long growing season and mild winters.

History

New Kentanna was originally an uninhabited world named Draylon II.

In 2370, the Skrreea came through the Bajoran wormhole and believed Bajor to be Kentanna, their mythical sanctuary. The Bajoran Provisional Government was forced to turn them away as Bajor was struggling to provide for its own people, before even considering an additional three million Skrreea. Commander Benjamin Sisko of Starfleet and Major Kira Nerys of the Bajoran Militia suggested Draylon II as an alternative, but the Skrreea initially refused. However, after one of them, Tumak, was killed while attempting to land on Bajor forcefully, they reluctantly accepted the offer to settle on Draylon II. (DS9: "Sanctuary")

Eventually, the planet was formally renamed to New Kentanna. (SA: "300th Night")

When the Venari Ral laid Omega-47 mines around the core of Federation space in 3196, this planet was within the enclosed region. (SA: "Rubincon")

Stellar cartography

In the 3190s, this planet's position was labeled on a Federation star chart which was displayed in Starfleet Academy's stellar cartography laboratory. (SA: "Beta Test")

In 3196, the location of Draylon (New Kentanna) was depicted on star charts and readouts used across several locations on the USS Athena to locate, monitor, and respond to the Omega-47 mines laid by the Venari Ral. (SA: "300th Night", "Rubincon")

According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 47) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), by 2378, Draylon II had been renamed to New Kentanna. In the late 24th century, it was an independent system.
