memory alpha

The Dreon system was an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant.

This system was located near the Badlands, the Rolor Nebula, and Kavaria. It was about twelve hours travel-time from Bajor, and considered to be quite a distance from Tholian space.

Components

Stellar system

This was a binary star system consisting of a G-type primary and a M-type companion.

Planetary system

This system had at least seven planets, including the colonized world Dreon VII.

History

At some point, this system was colonized by the Bajorans, when they built a settlement on Dreon VII.

Working for the Bajoran Ministry of Commerce in 2372, Kasidy Yates regularly carried cargo to this system. At one point, Yates claimed to have rendezvoused with a Tholian freighter here, though she actually had met a Maquis raider in the Badlands. (DS9: "For the Cause")

Stellar cartography

In 2259, the location of this system was labeled on a stellar cartography chart that was seen on the USS Enterprise's ready room viewscreen. This system's symbol had a yellow color, indicating that it was affiliated with Cardassia Prime. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds")

On stardate 1292.4, the location of this system was labeled on a star chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Team briefing. (Star Trek: Section 31)

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. The Dreon system was in or near to neutral space. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

In 2401, the location of Dreon was labeled in a star chart on the bridge of the USS Titan. (PIC: "The Next Generation")

In 3196, this system's position was labeled on a Federation star chart that displayed the placement of Omega-47 mines by the Venari Ral around the center of the Federation in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. This system was located outside this region. (SA: "300th Night")

Benjamin Sisko seemed to think of Kavaria and the Dreon system as neighboring systems, but Kasidy (perhaps maliciously) didn't seem to agree.
Information on this system's stars came from the Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 46) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385").
"DREE-on" was the pronunciation for this name, as given in the "For the Cause" script pronunciation guide. In the script, one possible route to Dreon could lead through a stellar nursery in the Panak sector. [1]
