The Barzan system was an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant. (TNG: "The Price"; SA: "Ko'Zeine")

This system was home to the Barzan species, who inhabited the system's second planet, Barzan II. The system was also home to multiple moons, of which Amma and Tolpra were said to be the "most beautiful". (DIS: "Die Trying")

History

For a time, the system was a fixed endpoint for the Barzan wormhole until 2373, when it was accidentally destabilized by Dr. Arridor and Kol. (TNG: "The Price"; VOY: "False Profits").

When the Venari Ral laid Omega-47 mines around the core of Federation space in 3196, this system was within the potential blast radius of one of the mines. (SA: "Rubincon")

Stellar cartography

In 3196, this system's position was labeled on a Federation star chart which was displayed on the main viewscreen of the USS Athena bridge. Systems affiliated with the Federation, including this one, had blue labels. (SA: "Ko'Zeine")

Later that year, during the Omega-47 crisis, the location of Barzan was depicted on star charts and readouts used across several locations on the USS Athena to locate, monitor, and respond to the Omega-47 mines laid by the Venari Ral. It was one of the few systems marked with a star instead of a dot. (SA: "Rubincon")

This star system was only mentioned in writing.
In the episode "Ko'Zeine", the Barzan system was placed in the Beta Quadrant.
