This was a quaternary system organized into a pair of binary systems (17 Cygni A/B and 17 Cygni F/G).

The primary 17 Cygni A/B system consisted of the F-type dwarf 17 Cygni A and the K-type dwarf 17 Cygni B.

The secondary 17 Cygni F/G system consisted of the K-type dwarfs 17 Cygni F and 17 Cygni G.

Stellar cartography

The 17 Cygni system was visible from Earth in the constellation Cygnus. It was approximately 68 light years from Sol.

In the 2150s, the location of 17 Cygni was labeled on an United Earth star chart which was displayed in several crew and guest quarters aboard the Enterprise. (Star Trek: Enterprise, set decoration)

In 3196, during the Omega-47 crisis, the location of 53 Aquarii was depicted on star charts and readouts used across several locations on the USS Athena to locate, monitor, and respond to the Omega-47 mines laid by the Venari Ral.
