Background information

This star system was only mentioned in writing.

The location of the star system was seen on the bridge of the SS Eleos XII on what appears to be an updated chart from Star Trek: Star Charts. Dave Blass published pictures of the set on his website.

Further information on this system could be had from the Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 36), and the Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Stellar Cartography", p. 10; "Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"). These reference works identified Fesarius as the capital star system of the First Federation. The primary was classified as a K-type star.

In the star chart seen in "Red Directive", the area of space around Fesarius was delimited by triangle-shaped symbols. The Star Trek: Star Charts identified these as First Federation marker buoys. They were not identified in the episode's chart; however, they were numbered from 1 to 13.
