Clarus was a star system in the Alpha Quadrant. It was one of several surrounding systems of Ferenginar. This system was in the Ferengi Trade Zone.

Stellar system

This was a trinary system. The primary Clarus was a K-type star. Its companions were a M-type star and a G-type star.

History

When, in 2374, Rom floated the possibility that the Dominion had conquered Ferenginar, Major Kira Nerys countered that it could not have been taken without first conquering systems like Clarus and Irtok. (DS9: "Profit and Lace")

Stellar cartography

In 2371, the location of the Clarus system was labeled in the star chart Data and Picard were studying in stellar cartography aboard the USS Enterprise-D. (Star Trek Generations, okudagram)

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. Clarus was in or near to Ferengi space. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

In 3195, this system's position was labeled on a Federation star chart which was displayed on the bridge of the USS Athena. (SA: "Come, Let's Away")

In 3196, this system's position was labeled on a Federation star chart that displayed the placement of Omega-47 mines by the Venari Ral around the center of the Federation in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. This system was located outside this region. (SA: "300th Night")

Information on the system's stars came from the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"). In 2378, it was an independent system.
Another very similarly named system, the Clarius system, was also associated with the Ferengi.
