The Persephone system was a planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant, named after the Greek goddess Persephone.
Components
This was a single star system consisting of a primary and its eight planets, of which at least two were inhabited by humanoids. The ancient comet C/2260-Quentin could also be found within this system.
History
In 2259, the USS Enterprise visited the Persephone system to study the behavior of C/2260-Quentin and prevented it from catastrophically colliding with Persephone III. (SNW: "Children of the Comet")
In 2364, the USS Enterprise-D visited the system to confer with Admiral Mark Jameson on Persephone V to seek his help with a hostage situation. (TNG: "Too Short A Season")
Stellar cartography
In 2260, the location of Persephone was labeled on a star chart denoting the spread of a quantum uncertainty field across the region. It was outside of the area effect of the phenomena. It was marked as an independent system. (SNW: "Subspace Rhapsody")
In 2261, the location of Persephone was depicted on a star chart used by the crew of the USS Enterprise to highlight the location of Vadia. It was labeled as an independent system. (SNW: "Through the Lens of Time")
In 3195, this system's position was labeled on a Federation star chart which was displayed in Starfleet Academy's Stellar Cartography laboratory. (SA: "Beta Test")
