Memory Alpha AboutPolicies and guidelinesFA policies → Featured article criteria

Featured articles are supposed to be examples of Memory Alpha's best work, and are showcased on the main page and in the portals. They are especially well-written, informative, and comprehensive articles that cover all available information on a subject. This means that any article nominated to become a featured article should fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Well-written: This includes both style and content. A featured article candidate should adhere to the Manual of Style and come close to a perfect article.
  2. Comprehensive: The article should be as complete as possible, but without adding any unnecessary rambling.
  3. Accurate: Only certain resources may be used within Memory Alpha articles. Featured article candidates should cite all sources and only draw from valid ones.
  4. Illustrated: Where possible, images and audio files should be used to clarify and complement the text.
  5. Undisputed: Any article whose content is under dispute is not a good candidate. If changes to an article cannot be agreed upon by community consensus, that article will be considered ineligible for FA status so long as the dispute persists.
  6. Stable: FA candidates should be relatively stable, free from major revision during the nomination process. Articles whose subjects continue to appear in ongoing Star Trek productions usually make poor candidates for this reason.

While it may be possible to write a good article from scratch, it is highly encouraged to let other editors copyedit and comment on possible flaws before nominating the article.
