The M'Kroon were a spacefaring humanoid species from the planet M'Kroon. They were hairless with pale blue skin and eyes, and possessed a unique vocal range. (SNW: "Through the Lens of Time")
History
As of the mid-23rd century, the M'Kroon controlled several planets, including Vadia IX. They were wary of the Federation and had declined several offers of membership.
In 2261, Nurse Christine Chapel and Doctor Roger Korby conducted excavations on Vadia IX and found evidence that the M'Kroon were the direct descendants of an ancient, highly advanced civilization capable of traveling across multiple galaxies, and who claimed to have discovered immortality. The M'Kroonian alphabet shared similarities with an older language found on distant worlds such as Polaris XII and Praetorian.
Later that year, the M'Kroon authorized a small away team from the USS Enterprise to investigate a sacred site on Vadia IX, as they desired to learn the truth of their origins. By energizing a magnetic anomaly, the team uncovered a technologically advanced structure that apparently served as a dimensional prison for malevolent non-corporeal lifeforms called the Vezda. One of the Vezda possessed Ensign Dana Gamble and caused several casualties on the Enterprise before being contained.
In the aftermath, the M'Kroon worked together with Starfleet to establish a security perimeter around the site. The incident gave them a new appreciation for the Federation. (SNW: "Through the Lens of Time")
Society and culture
Ancient M'Kroon performed ritual sacrifices in order to stand before the "deities of time".
M'Kroon greeted each other by touching the fingertips of their right hand to their lips, and then to their chest; they did not shake hands. They modified their bodies with extensive implants. The M'Kroon had a great fear of the Vezda, which in their language meant "evil". (SNW: "Through the Lens of Time")
