I propose that we automate the table at Memory Alpha:Archivists to list all non-blocked, non-bot autoconfirmed users who have made at least a hundred edits and have made at least one edit to an article in the last year (there are currently 186 users who meet these critera; the table as it is now includes 205 users). I have the JavaScript for this ready, so if it's agreed that this is a good idea, we can just submit it for review and that will be that. I can also make changes to it to modify the exact criteria for inclusion in the table if desired.
- Advantages
- Users will not have to add themselves to the table to appear on it.
- The users shown will mostly be active members of the community, whereas the current table includes many users who left years ago or never made more than a handful of edits.
- Disadvantages
- Users cannot include personal information (their real name and where they live).
- Counterpoint: Users can still give this info on their user pages if they wish.
- It might sometimes include users whose edits are near-vandalism but haven't been blocked, or conversely exclude users who are simply taking an extended break from MA but will be back.
- JavaScript doesn't work on FandomMobile, so we would have to replace the table with a link to Special:ListUsers on mobile devices.
I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, so I'm making this proposal. 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talk • contribs) 22:13, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- I don't see any disadvantages to doing this.
- a) If somebody, for whatever reason, wishes not to be included on this list, there's some exclusion script that can do that for them, isn't there? (Not me, but I'm anticipating there might be the odd person.)
- b) Where is the separate bot list like the one for archivists?

a) Good suggestion, I'll see about rigging something like this up.
b) You can find a list of bots at Memory Alpha:Bots, is that what you're asking about?
🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talk • contribs) 01:38, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
- b) Yes. Is it currently automated also or would it be beneficial to do so? -LauraCC (talk) 01:39, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
It's not automated, and doesn't need to be IMO. Good thought, though. 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talk • contribs) 03:44, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
- I've linked this proposal from the archivists talk page, to inform page watchers. Note that I have modified the above listed criteria to ensure good performance in loading the table: first take all the users who have edited an article in the last 30 days, trim that list down to the fifty most recently-editing users, then remove any who are blocked, are a bot, aren't autoconfirmed, aren't emailconfirmed, or have less than 100 edits.
- If there are no objections in the next week or so, I'll move forward with this. 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talk • contribs) 23:07, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- 30 days seems quite short, doesn't it? Someone like e.g. User:Gvsualan who has made many thousands of edits but who has been away for a couple months seems worthy of inclusion. How much of a performance hit was the original 12-month proposal causing? —Atosen (talk) 23:12, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
