This was a binary star system. The primary Alrescha (the proper name for Alpha Piscium A) was a A-type supergiant. Its companion Alpha Piscium B was an A-type subgiant. (SA: "Beta Test")

The Alpha Piscium system was visible from Earth in the constellation Pisces. It was approximately 151 light years from Sol.
In 3195, this system's position was labeled on a Federation star chart which was displayed in Starfleet Academy's Stellar Cartography laboratory. (SA: "Beta Test")
