Tomy Company, Ltd., otherwise known as Takara Tomy, is a Japanese toy company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2011, it acquired the RC2 Corporation, itself the parent company of Ertl, which Tomy has maintained as a sub-brand. [1]
Beginning in 2023, Tomy began releasing select pre-painted die-cast Star Trek models via its own crowdfunded subdivision known as Tomy Plus, under brand manager, and former Racing Champions design manager, Chris Huisman.

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Prestige Select
USS Enterprise NCC-1701 Prestige Select prototype
Based directly on the original eleven-foot model in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, the kickstarter campaign for the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 was launched for preorder on 7 June 2022, the company's first crowdfunding campaign. Funding was completed by 27 October 2022 with an estimated shipment of August 2023, though actual shipments did not begin until 6 October 2023. For the development process, paint chips were supplied by Gary Kerr, who worked on the original model's 2016 restoration. Further consultation was given from Glen E. Swanson, Karl Tate, Matthew Paul Cushman, and Mark Myers.
At 1:350 scale, the model measures approximately 32 inches (81.28 cm) long. Being composed primarily of die-cast materials, it weighs roughly 20 pounds. The resulting weight of the bow requires a separate support stand for the saucer, though partly also included to facilitate the saucer separation functionality. Internal lighting is powered by 4 AAA batteries in the saucer and 4 AA batteries in the secondary hull, and is activated with capacitive touch sensors. Also included are three Class F shuttlecraft: NCC-1701/2 – Columbus, NCC-1701/7 – Galileo, and NCC-1701/12 – Copernicus.
U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 from Star Trek: The Motion Picture
USS Enterprise NCC-1701 from Star Trek: The Motion Picture
The crowdfunding campaign for the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, commonly known as the refit Enterprise, began in August of 2024 and closed 16 September 2024. Shipment was estimated for October 2025 before a delay to November, then ultimately early December. The model is based on detailed research by Karl Tate, Gary Kerr, and Mark Myers.
As with the previous Enterprise, the TMP model is billed as 1:350 scale. It is longer at 34.29 inches (87.1 cm), estimated to be 85% die-cast, and once again weighs approximately 20 pounds. Internal lighting is powered by USB-C (cord not included), as is external spot lighting emanating from the base. The hull features iridescent paint patterns, commonly known by modelers as "aztecing." Included as a bonus this time is a 5.6-inch (14.22 cm) Surak shuttlecraft model, with detachable warp sled and stand. The Surak is ABS plastic, as opposed to die-cast, and can be docked to the Enterprise.

Klingon D7 Battle Cruiser Replica prototype
Funding for a third model, the Klingon D7 battle cruiser, launched in summer 2025 and was fully funded 8 September 2025. Shipment is estimated for late fall of 2026. Unlike previous releases, the D7 is available in two versions – the "Original TV Series Screen Model" and the "Original Concept Design" versions.
At 1:350 scale it measures 26 inches (66cm) long. Like the refit Enterprise, lighting is both internal to the model and provided externally from the base. It will come with a remote control in the form of a Klingon communicator to operate the lighting, once again powered via USB-C (cord not included). The bonus ships are two Klingon shuttlecrafts.
