This template produces a message box used to request edits to protected pages. Edit requests can be made for pages protected at any level and it is possible to request edits to multiple pages at once.

To request an edit to a page, create a section on the talk page with a name such as "Edit request". At the top of this section, place {{edit request|answered=no}} followed by a detailed explanation of what you want to be changed. If the change you are suggesting might be controversial, please establish consensus for it before adding this template.

To request edits to multiple pages simultaneously, use the following format:

|answered=no
|First page to be edited
|Second page to be edited
|Third page to be edited
|...
}}

Once an edit request is implemented or rejected, |answered=no should be changed to |answered=yes to remove the talk page from Category:Memory Alpha edit requests.
