Usage

This template is used to link to external website entries without a dedicated template. A variable is required giving the end path to the address in question, and a second variable can be used to alter the linking text.

URLs containing un-encoded equal signs (=) will break this template. To fix this, you will have to encode all equal signs using {{=}}.

To link to an article, for example one at the Hollywood Reporter, you would have a template call as such:

{{External link|https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-trek-second-animated-series-more-short-treks-coming-cbs-all-access-1174218}}

This would produce:

[1]

If text is desired, such as "Animated Short Treks", the following format should be used:

{{External link|https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-trek-second-animated-series-more-short-treks-coming-cbs-all-access-1174218|Animated ''Short Treks''}}

This would produce:

Animated Short Treks

For example, if you wish the link to be formatted as an external link, add the base website address as a third variable:

{{External link|https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-trek-second-animated-series-more-short-treks-coming-cbs-all-access-1174218|Animated ''Short Treks''|https://www.hollywoodreporter.com}}

This would produce:

Animated Short Treks at hollywoodreporter.com

If you wish the external link to display different text, the following format should be used:

{{External link|https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-trek-second-animated-series-more-short-treks-coming-cbs-all-access-1174218|Animated ''Short Treks''|https://www.hollywoodreporter.com|The Hollywood Reporter}}

This would produce:

Animated Short Treks at The Hollywood Reporter
