This negates the need to input the following string:

[[Galaxy class|''Galaxy''-class]]

For "code" classes, the "name" will not be italicized, such as:

{{class|NX}}

yields

NX-class

This negates the need to input the following string:

[[NX class|NX-class]]

For alternate reality classes, simply add "alt" as a second parameter, such as:

{{class|Constitution|alt}}

yielding

Constitution-class

If the second parameter is not "alt", then that will be used as a disambiguation, such as:

{{class|Antares}}

yielding
