Peter Morwood (20 October 19569 May 2025; age 68) was a Northern Irish fantasy novelist and screenplay writer who wrote two Star Trek novels, one with his wife Diane Duane.

Morwood was born Robert Peter Smyth in Lisburn in Northern Ireland, and was raised a Quaker. He attended Queen's University, Belfast. He chose "Morwood" as a pen name as it was his mother's maiden name.

He worked in the UK Customs and Excise for a while, and met his wife, Diane Duane at a convention in Glasgow, Scotland. After this, Morwood moved to the USA for a while, and then lived in Scotland, before returning to Ireland to live in County Wicklow.

Morwood died on 9 May 2025 after a brief illness. [1] [2]
