An outfielder was a baseball player who played in the outfield, either at left field (left fielder), center field (center fielder), or right field (right fielder).
In 1953, the Daily News reported that the Brooklyn Dodgers won a game against the New York Giants. Duke Snider played for the Dodgers that year as an outfielder. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars")
