Metron space was the territorial region of space claimed by the Metrons. This region was located somewhere in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. The solar system at 2466 PM was within this space. According to one Metron, the species had inhabited this region since long before Humans existed in their current form. (TOS: "Arena"; SNW: "Terrarium")

In 2261, the shuttle Archimedes, piloted by Lieutenant Erica Ortegas, was pulled through a wormhole to Metron space where it crashed on a toxic moon orbiting a gas giant with 396 moons. Also crashed on the planet was a Gorn pilot, both of whom had been drawn to that location by the Metrons to see if Humans and Gorn could possibly coexist peacefully. Ortegas and the Gorn worked together and befriended each other, signalling the USS Enterprise who sent an away team to rescue Ortegas. However, mistaking the Gorn for an enemy, La'An Noonien-Singh killed her. A Metron briefly spoke with Ortegas and although they erased her memory of their meeting, Ortegas was allowed to keep her memories of her experiences with the Gorn. (SNW: "Terrarium")

In 2267, the Enterprise pursued a Gorn starship into this space. The Metrons ended the pursuit, forcing a resolution to the conflict which preceded this pursuit. (TOS: "Arena")

This region might have an association with the Metron Consortium.
In Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 64) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the Metron Consortium was the name of the Metrons' interstellar nation. This nation was located in the Beta Quadrant.
