Memory Alpha AboutPolicies and guidelines → Username

On Memory Alpha, usernames are used for logging in, facilitating communication between archivists, and identifying which user made which edits. Your username can be almost anything you want. However, there are some restrictions.

To lessen conflict between members, offensive or inflammatory usernames are not permitted on Memory Alpha, and will be blocked when discovered. Administrators are allowed significant discretion in determining whether or not a username is offensive, but their decision can be overruled if there is strong consensus to (un)block the user in question. If you are blocked for using an offensive username, you may return under a new username, provided it is not offensive and you intent to make good-faith contributions to the project.

To avoid confusion, do not choose a username similar to those of existing users. If your username is too similar to an existing one, you may be blocked (as above) and asked to choose a different one. Users who register names that are designed to impersonate other members may be blocked immediately with an IP block left in place (see bans and blocks).
