Memory Alpha About → Memory Alpha logos

Originally designed by Kristian Trigwell, Memory Alpha's logo has undergone many iterations since its creation in the early days of the project. This page documents the various forms the logo has taken over the years.

Logo evolution

In 2004 or 2005, after being approached by Memory Alpha cofounder Dan Carlson, Kristian Trigwell designed Memory Alpha's original logo. Kris's design featured a golden laurel wreath that surrounded a ring of alternating red and silver bands. The ring encircled a light blue conic pattern. A pair of silver brackets slotted into gaps at the ring's left and right. The brackets held a golden "ma" (apparently rendered in a modified version of the font Beware). Above all this, the text "MEMORY ALPHA" (apparently rendered in the font Serpentine Bold) headlined a golden banner. All these elements were set against a dark blue background surrounded by a silver, two-rimmed, hexagonal border.

The earliest known implementation of the logo on Memory Alpha itself took place in December 2005, by which time the light blue conic pattern had been removed from the logo's center. Otherwise, the logo remained identical to Kris's original design.

In 2010, User:Bp produced an SVG recreation of the Memory Alpha logo, removing the left and right gaps in the ring, toning down the extreme golden gradients of the original design, and switching the Serpentine Bold banner font to Serpentine Regular. For the laurel wreath, Bp used an SVG reproduction of the Federation's seal created by User:Shisma.

In 2022, A. J. Halliwell created a modified rendering of the Memory Alpha logo, coloring the two-rimmed border with a rainbow of Pride colors.

Variants

In December 2006, Tim Thomason uploaded a variant of the Memory Alpha logo that incorporated a string of colorful holiday lights into the design. This logo variant was used during almost every December holiday season until 2016.

For Star Trek's 60th anniversary, Noel Tucker created a variant of the Memory Alpha logo, incorporating the official "Star Trek 60" logo and a "diamond anniversary" color scheme into the design, and switching the banner font back to Serpentine Bold.
