Kintsugi was the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold.
While temporarily transformed into a Vulcan in 2261, Christine Chapel told Spock that La'An Noonien-Singh was a more logical match for him than she had been, because "occasionally, two broken pieces fit together in the right way," as in kintsugi. (SNW: "Four-and-a-Half Vulcans")
