Karen Montgomery (28 November 19494 December 2015; age 66) was the actress who played Beata in the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Angel One". Footage from her appearance was later reused for the second season episode "Shades of Gray".

Montgomery started acting in the late 1970s when she portrayed Patricia in the Kojak episode "In Full Command" in 1978. Marc Alaimo also worked in this episode as did stunt coordinator Charles Picerni. The following years she had featured and supporting parts in Going in Style (1979, with Mark Margolis, Angelique Pettyjohn, Anthony Call and Alan Brooks), Willie & Phil (1980), Coast to Coast (1980, with William Lucking and George P. Wilbur), the television movie Condor (1986, with Ray Wise, James Avery, Carolyn Seymour, Mario Roccuzzo, and Tony Epper), and Amazon Women on the Moon (1987, with Robert Picardo, William Marshall, Ed Begley, Jr., Frank Collison, Raye Birk, Larry A. Hankin, Dick Miller, Bernie Casey, and Ronny Cox).

Montgomery also guest starred in episodes of Nero Wolfe (1981, with Bruce Gray, John de Lancie, and Allan Miller), Aloha Paradise (1981), and L.A. Law (1993, starring Corbin Bernsen and Larry Drake, with Daniel Benzali, Brian George, Barry Kivel, and Kavi Raz). This was her last known on-screen acting job.

Montgomery worked as a producer on several projects. She was an associate producer on Diary of a Hitman (1991, with Seymour Cassel) and 'Til There Was You (1997, with Richard Fancy, William Utay, and James W. Jansen), a co-producer on Row Your Boat (1999), and a producer on the documentaries Special Thanks to Roy London (2005, with interviews by Bruce French, Rhonda Aldrich, Famke Janssen, Cameron Thor, and fellow producer Julie Warner) and A Sense of Wonder (2008).

Montgomery died on 4 December 2015 from breast cancer. [1]
