James Marsters (born 20 August 1962; age 63) is an American actor who was a guest on the podcast QGR: "People and Ideas" on 25 July 2021 and read a quote from Gene Roddenberry.
Marsters auditioned for the role of Shinzon in Star Trek Nemesis, but the role ultimately went to Tom Hardy. Actress Marina Sirtis believes Marsters would have been more suitable in the role. [1]
Marsters is best known for playing Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, working with Anthony Stewart Head, Charisma Carpenter and Julie Benz, and Captain John Hart on Torchwood. He co-starred with Star Trek: Enterprise actress Jolene Blalock and Tony Todd in Shadow Puppets (2007) and had a supporting role in P.S. I Love You (2007). In 2001, he played Charlemagne Bolivar in an episode of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda. He also had a recurring role as Professor Fine/Brainiac in Smallville and also played the villain Piccolo in Dragonball Evolution (2011).
