Jacqueline Brookes (24 July 1930–26 April 2013; age 82) was the actress who played Brand in the Star Trek: The Next Generation fifth season episode "The First Duty". She received credit as "Special Guest Star" and filmed her scenes between Thursday 30 January 1992 and Monday 3 February 1992 on Paramount Stage 16. On the days of filming, Brookes was picked up at her hotel at 5:15 am by the transportation department. The first call sheet for the following episode "Cost Of Living", dated on Tuesday 4 February 1992, features the note for the transportation department to pick up Brookes at her hotel at 10:30 am and drive her to the airport.
Brookes starred in One of Our Own (1975, with William Daniels and Louise Sorel). She later appeared in Ghost Story (1981, starring Fred Astaire, with Alice Krige, Craig Wasson, and Robin Curtis).
Following her appearance in Star Trek, Brookes played supporting roles in Whispers in the Dark (1992), The Good Son (1993, with Daniel Hugh Kelly), and Losing Isaiah (1995, with Rick Worthy).
