It hasn't posted anything since Sept. 24. Was it deactivated to keep it from being nothing but podcast episodes for a while? -LauraCC (talk) 21:47, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Not that I know of. There could be something wrong with the add-on that posts the recent changes to Twitter. I'll ask the Fandom folks. -- Renegade54 (talk) 23:15, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. -LauraCC (talk) 00:37, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
Have you received a reply yet? -LauraCC (talk) 15:49, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- No, but I've been away on vacation. I'll ask again. -- Renegade54 (talk) 21:42, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. -LauraCC (talk) 01:17, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
Any updates? -LauraCC (talk) 18:17, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- No... I've asked, and received no reply. I'll ask again. -- Renegade54 (talk) 18:31, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
Odd. Has the same person(s) replied to any other requests during this same time? -LauraCC (talk) 01:22, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Soooo... apparently since Musk bought Twitter/X, the API that we (and many others) use to produce the feed has broken. We don't know when (if ever) it'll be fixed. They've probably fired whoever used to maintain it. -- Renegade54 (talk) 02:19, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
Oh. I thought it was something on our end, like a broken link we needed to edit. -LauraCC (talk) 02:22, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
It looks like MA used to do something similar on Facebook 7 years ago. The format of Twitter better suited frequent posts, though. -LauraCC (talk) 02:28, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe some other Twitter-like social media website has a working API that we could switch to? Maybe Bluesky or something? I have no idea, tbh, but might be worth exploring. 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talk • contribs) 02:33, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
Which social media sites are MA users most likely to use? In addition to created pages, we ought to post news panel updates, too (but not automatically in that case). -LauraCC (talk) 22:35, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'd say moving to the BlueSky API, since that's where most folks are migrating there, slowly but surely. --WTRiker (talk) 04:35, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
I can't speak for others, but I'm still on Twitter, with no plans to move to BlueSky. -LauraCC (talk) 16:19, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
Move this to Memory Alpha talk:Social media. Still worth looking into. -LauraCC (talk) 22:00, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
What about MA's Facebook page? It used to post new article links regularly, too. Was it tied to Twitter or separate? -LauraCC (talk) 02:35, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
- It was/is tied to Twitter. With the Twitter feed broken, so is the Facebook feed. If someone is willing to take up the role of MA's social media manager... :) -- Renegade54 (talk) 22:49, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
- I agree. It would be good if something other than the automatic feed was posted from time to time, anyway, so we should definitely have someone doing that. I confess I have no experience with that sort of thing, but if no one else wants to, I'd be willing to give it a go. :) 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talk • contribs) 02:57, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
- Just to be clear, btw... there *is* still a functioning X (Twitter) API. It's just that they want users to pay to use it now, and it's not inexpensive, which basically makes it useless to us. -- Renegade54 (talk) 22:49, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
- Is there anyone willing and able to take over updating one or more of the social media sites? It's a time-consuming task... -- Renegade54 (talk) 14:57, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
- I'd be willing to give it a try, although I can't guarantee super regular posting. I'll message you about it on Discord later.
- That said, there's no reason this needs to be done by just one person, so if anyone else is interested, that would be great. Two people is twice the posts, after all. :) 🖖 Mr. Starfleet Command (talk • contribs) 03:12, 16 May 2026 (UTC)
