The Finibus system was a star system located in a remote area of Federation space in the Beta Quadrant. The system was near the Gorn Hegemony-imposed demarcation line.

Components

Stellar system

This was a binary star system, consisting of a black hole and a J-class brown dwarf. The brown dwarf was in the process of being consumed by the black hole, producing a bright accretion disk.

Planetary system

Orbiting the binary pair, there were six planets, including the colonized world Finibus III.

History

In 2259, the USS Enterprise visited the system and found the Federation colony on Finibus III destroyed by the Gorn. The ship nearly fell victim to a Gorn ambush itself, but managed to evade them. The incident was associated with a coronal mass ejection. (SNW: "Memento Mori", "Hegemony, Part II")

Stellar cartography

The location of this system was labeled on Federation star charts in the mid-23rd century, and on stardate 1292.4 in the early 24th century. (SNW: "Hegemony, Part II"; Star Trek: Section 31)
