Coltar IV was the inhabited fourth planet in its star system. The planet was located in a sector of the Alpha or Beta Quadrant.
Before stardate 41697, a farming colony had been established on the planet. In 2364, this planet, along with the freighter USS Lalo, were the first to report that they had experienced the Manheim Effect. They were in the same sector at the time. (TNG: "We'll Always Have Paris")
In the 32nd century, Coltar IV was a Federation member planet. It was listed with other members on a video wall in the USS Athena. (SA: "The Life of the Stars")
In the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"), Coltar IV was listed as a Federation member in 2378.
