Wild boar was a game animal similar to a pig.

In 2151, Jonathan Archer, aghast at the Eska hunting the sentient Wraith, felt there was a difference between that and hunting wild boar. (ENT: "Rogue Planet")

Korob created a table consisting of several foods, including a boar's head with an apple in the mouth on a platter of greens. (TOS: "Catspaw")

In 2267, one month into their exile on Ceti Alpha V, the Augments encountered a native species of wild boar that they utilized for food. Not long after, while exploring the local jungles, Khan Noonien Singh, Marla McGivers, Joaquin and others came under attack from a Ceti boar which resulted in the death of Joaquin from wounds sustained by attempting to draw the boar's attention. Worf's pet targ in TNG: "Where No One Has Gone Before" was played by a Russian wild boar named Emmy-Lou.
